very Wednesday throughout the month of July, 23 campers and 7 counselors were hosted at the Swarthmore Swim Club by members of the SPC Outreach Committee and congregation for pool time and pizza. While SPC teens and children were playing games with campers in the pool, adults were preparing tables for lunch with pizza, fruit and drinks. On the final Wednesday, July 29, volunteers hosted a full cookout, complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, fruit and homemade chocolate chip cookies for campers and their counselors. It was a joy to experience the laughter and friendships made at the pool between SPC youth and campers, and the active conversations at tables over shared lunch. We are grateful for this ongoing partnership with Chester Eastside and the generosity of the Swarthmore Swim Club to make all of this possible. Likewise, we are grateful for the commitment of Outreach Committee members who take the lead on organizing this effort each year, and of course, to our many families and individuals at SPC who go out of their way to make this an opportunity that campers look forward to each week.
