warthmore Presbyterian Church is again participating in the Backpack School Supply Drive coordinated by the Lutheran Churches of Delaware County. This interfaith effort brings together congregations across the county to support students in Chester and Upper Darby, where the need is greatest. Last year, more than 500 backpacks were filled and distributed, and the need is even greater this year. The 2026 drive will conclude on August 2. We will also include a Blessing of the Backpacks as part of worship closer to the start of the school year; more information will be shared as the date approaches. There are three ways you can participate:

  1. Order supplies through the Amazon Wishlist for School Supplies. Items will be shipped directly to the team assembling the backpacks.
  2. Purchase items from the suggested list and place them in the labeled bins outside Fellowship Hall (backpacks are welcome as well).
  3. Volunteer on Sunday, August 2 before worship in Fellowship Hall to gather all donations and to prepare backpacks.
