e are launching commercial compost pick-up at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church this fall! Beginning September 13 and continuing October 3, please place organic waste in the bins or buckets labeled “Compost” instead of “Trash.”
Place organic waste where it belongs.
What can go in the compost? Our commercial hauler accepts all organic material, including meat, dairy, bones, shellfish, and biodegradable packaging. These materials will be turned into rich humus that helps fertilize and regenerate soil.
Why compost? Composting is one way we live out our commitment as an Earth Care Congregation. It diverts waste from landfills, decreases our carbon footprint, and reminds us that food scraps are not trash. Compost also supports healthier soil, carbon sequestration, and the growth of healthy plants and produce.
