T

he Salvation Army’s New Day Drop in Center in Kensington (a community partner to SPC) provides warm meals, clothing and toiletries to women who are mostly living on the street, often addicted to drugs, and often trafficked. The Center was closed for much of the pandemic but is now open and in need of wintry weather clothing and personal hygiene supplies. For the next two weeks, Swarthmore Presbyterian Church will collect new and gently used winter coats, jackets and jeans, new scarves, hats, gloves and mittens, and new socks and underwear and toiletries. Because so many of these women are malnourished, clothing is mostly needed in smaller sizes. To learn more about the New Day Drop-in Center, visit them online. Donations can be delivered Sunday mornings to the Outreach Center between 10 am and 12 noon or Monday through Wednesday from 10 am – 4 pm.

To all who have already contributed: THANK YOU! Volunteers Marilyn Henkelman and Jacki Miller were able to deliver a carful of donations just before Christmas and are delighted to plan a return trip next week.
