s we draw near to national elections this year, the concern for our life together is profound. Our anxieties hold us hostage to fears for safety, uncertain as to the temperament of neighbors near and far. Meanwhile, we grieve the very real loss of relationships and the capacity for civil dialogue across differences that have eroded our trust in one another over many years.
As Christians, we are called to action in these times. We are called to fulfill our civic duty and to vote, which we encourage you all to do on Tuesday, November 5. We are also called to pray, remembering that salvation belongs to God. We encourage you to pray on your own, and we invite you to gather as a body of Christ to pray. Your pastors will lead two prayer services at 7:30 pm in the Chapel, one on the day before the election, Monday, November 4, and the second on the day after the election, Wednesday, November 6. This is a prayerful space and not a partisan one. It is a space in which we will pray together for our nation and its leaders, for its people as we prepare to vote and as we begin to process the results of the election. We will hold forth the hope of Christ’s healing and promised peace, for this nation and for all nations of the earth. We hope you will join us.
