Join us this summer!

W

e are all on a mission together. We want the children and youth in our lives to have safe places to have fun, grow in character, and connect with God and with one another. That’s exactly what camp provides. And now, thanks to the great folks at Sacred Playgrounds, we have research confirming what many of us have known for generations: camp and conference experiences create lasting, positive impacts for kids, their families, congregations, and communities. We want to see our kids thrive, and we want to choose activities and experiences that foster faith, build character, and deepen connection.

So… Why Camp and Conferences?

  • Kids thrive when they have a place for next-level fun
Nationwide, 92% of campers list fun as the number one reason for attending.
  • Kids thrive when they can truly unplug
97% of parents agree that camp gives young people a break from technology.
  • Kids thrive when they have a safe place to explore faith
90% of campers say, “My questions about God and faith were taken seriously.”
  • Kids thrive when they develop character through experience
85% of parents say their child grew in self-confidence.
  • Kids thrive when they build positive relationships
91% of campers reported often or always feeling supported and happy at camp.

Let’s Do This.

We have opportunities for nearly every child and youth to attend a camp or conference this year. Local Presbyterian churches have made it simple—even covering up to the full cost—thanks to the generosity of generations of camp supporters.

Pastor David will be at Camp Johnsonburg for multiple sessions this summer and will lead our youth to Montreat. Our camp counselors and small group leaders are outstanding. Questions? Reach out to pastor David by clicking here.

Sponsorships

Our Presbytery wants every child and youth who wish to attend Camp Johnsonburg or Montreat to be able to go! To apply for financial assistance of any amount (up to the full cost), determine how much support you need, and fill out the application form by clicking here.

Camp Johnsonburg

Opportunities for rising 1st–12th graders.

Camp Johnsonburg is our local Presbyterian camp, located less than two hours away in beautiful northwest New Jersey. Campers stay in cabins in the woods, enjoy the lake (boating, swimming, fishing), eat family-style meals, and learn to live in a community. Activities include worship, campfires, outdoor cooking, climbing, basketball, high ropes, the zip line, the big swing, hiking, and more. Counselors and staff come from both local communities and around the world. Each week features several volunteer chaplains—pastors from nearby congregations—who lead worship and offer pastoral care. Johnsonburg is proud to welcome and celebrate every person as a beloved child of God.

What Happens at Montreat?

Youth from across the U.S. gather to live in community, make new friends in small groups (meeting twice a day), play during recreation events and free time, hear inspiring keynotes and preachers, worship together, and be renewed.

Rising 8th graders are placed in small groups with peers of their own age to help build strong, lasting connections.

Each evening, we gather with our friends from First Pres Stamford, CT (“the Fish Church”) for back-home group time—a space to reflect, pray, and listen for God’s call in our daily lives.

Our free afternoon on Wednesday includes lunch in town (we provide spending money), exploration time in Black Mountain, and dinner together (“Jesus is paying”). We’ll also have opportunities to hike, fish, play in the creek, help lead worship, join a choir, and more.

Travel, Lodging & Meals

We’ll travel with youth and leaders from nearby Presbyterian churches on a chartered bus. We’ll stay with First Pres Stamford in the wonderful house they used last year. Room assignments are made when we arrive. Expect delicious, nutritious meals and plenty of snacks.

Overall Cost

$780 total: (Transportation, housing, all meals, conference registration, and a conference T-shirt or other swag are included.)
Youth may bring spending money for snacks, coffee, ice cream, or shopping.

Payment Schedule

$100 deposit due February 22 (unless applying for full sponsorship). Final payment due March 22.
