Hamnet: A Novel of the Plague by Maggie O’Farrell / On Sunday evening, May 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, all are invited to join a reading circle sponsored by the Presbyterian Women (PW) of SPC. This one-time event will feature Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet: A Novel of the Plague. In the tradition of imagining women’s stories when history chooses to leave them out, we follow the story of Agnes and her family. Agnes is the name given in her father’s will, but we all know her as Anne Hathaway of Stratford. Drawing on Maggie O’Farrell’s long-term fascination with the little-known story behind Shakespeare’s most enigmatic play, Hamnet is a luminous portrait of a marriage, at its heart the loss of a beloved child. At a little over 300 pages, it is a captivating read with a gut-punch ending. All of Ms. O’Farrell’s books are delightful to read but Hamnet, is potentially her best. Please join us! Click here to email Jacki Miller and let her know if you plan to come and what you will bring.
