n February, SPC Session adopted A Call to Courageous Love, affirming our commitment to loving our immigrant neighbors. As part of that commitment, the Session-appointed task force continues to build relationships with organizations that serve immigrant communities in Delaware County and throughout the greater Philadelphia region. One such partner is New Sanctuary Movement (NSM), a faith-based organization whose work promotes justice, dignity, and accompaniment for immigrant and refugee communities.
Each Wednesday, NSM hosts a prayer vigil outside the ICE Field Office in downtown Philadelphia, and members of our congregation are encouraged to participate. Hosted by a different faith community each week, these gatherings include music, scripture, reflection, and prayer for those visiting the office, their families, those who work within the building, and our wider community.
Rev. has helped lead a vigil on behalf of the Presbytery of Philadelphia and has participated in several others. If you would like to learn more or coordinate attendance with others from SPC, please email Sarah by clicking here.
