I

n February, the Session of SPC shared the clarity of our commitment to our immigrant neighbors through the statement entitled, A Call to Courageous Love. In this statement, the Session identified that it is our faith that calls us clearly to courageous love and nonviolence as we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and to follow his way of love and justice. It was a statement in response to the inhumane treatment of documented and undocumented immigrant neighbors that we have witnessed in many states, and that occurs right here in Delaware County.

Taking up the commitment to use our energy, intelligence, imagination, love and resources to this end, SPC will join Congregation Ohev Shalom and Reformation Lutheran Church in Media to host an interfaith training on loving our immigrant neighbors. This will be a conversation to learn both the broad landscape and specific ways to be involved in care for our immigrant neighbors here in Delaware County. You are invited to join what we hope will be the first of many opportunities to gather with local faith communities committed to building a trusted network of care and advocacy in this part of our county.
