warthmore Presbyterian Church is partnering with Reformation Lutheran Church in Media and Congregation Ohev Shalom to launch the Interfaith Action Network, a collaborative effort to train volunteers in supporting immigrant neighbors throughout Delaware County.

This fall, volunteers are invited to participate in training focused on one or more of three areas of service: Advocacy, Grocery Delivery & Collections, and Accompaniment. Each congregation will take the lead in training and coordinating volunteers for one area, but participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. Come to one, two, or all three, and discover where your gifts, interests, and availability can make the greatest impact.

SPC will lead the Accompaniment training, a ministry of presence, friendship, and witness. Volunteers will learn how to support immigrant neighbors who may feel vulnerable in the current climate of increased immigration enforcement. Accompaniment may include attending medical appointments, court hearings, visits to government offices, or even routine errands such as grocery shopping. Training will cover both practical guidance and best practices for offering support. Volunteers will serve in pairs, and language differences should not be a barrier to participation.
