irst Place Swarthmore (FPS) invites you to join us for the second of three book conversations on the broad topic of immigration and in partnership with Trinity Episcopal Church. In April, participants will discuss the book, Solito: A Memoir by Javier Zamora.

Zamora writes of immigration from the very personal experience of his solo journey to the United States from El Salvador, at the age of nine. He traveled to the US to reunite with his parents, whose journeys preceded his own by several years. Traveling approximately 3,000 miles in the company of a coyote contracted by his family to see him safely north, and a small group of strangers, Zamora writes of his experience with incredible detail to highlight both the pains and dangers of undocumented migration alongside the humanity of those he encountered along the way. It is a book that is both difficult and hopeful.

As we did for our March conversation, we are delighted to welcome friends from Trinity Episcopal Church in Swarthmore into the conversation. All participants are encouraged to read the book ahead of time and come with questions, reflections, and curiosity. The Rev. Sarah Cooper Searight will convene the space and guide the discussion.

We hope you will join us in a spirit of openness, holding space for differing viewpoints while honoring the dignity of all who gather and all whose stories we consider. This conversation is the second in a planned series of book discussions on immigration, with the final session coming in early summer. You do not need to have participated in the first conversation, to join us for this second one.
