I

n a world marked by division, uncertainty and competing narratives, Matthew’s Gospel speaks with striking relevance. Matthew’s first audience — a young, fragile community navigating conflict, identity, and fear — sounds a lot like the church today. This year’s Lenten devotional invites readers to journey through Matthew’s Gospel to discover how Jesus leads us toward humility, courage, compassion, and faithful discipleship amid the fractures of our age.

This devotional provides daily reflections. Each entry includes Scripture, a focus verse, a theologically rich reflection, guided questions, and a closing prayer. There is also a weekly visio divina practice. Visio divina invites you to slow down, see with the eyes of faith, and encounter God through beauty, color, and form. Meditative prompts help guide that practice. You are also invited to attend Adult Education to explore this devotional more (even if you have not been reading it at home).

Who this devotional is for:

  • Individuals seeking a deeper, grounded Lenten practice
  • Pastors looking for session or small-group resources
  • Congregations wanting a unifying Lenten theme rooted in Scripture
  • Anyone longing to follow Jesus faithfully amid cultural and spiritual division
