I

n a world of disaster, hunger, and oppression, millions of people lack access to sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity. The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) – Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People – all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA)
Works alongside communities as they recover and find hope after natural or human-caused disasters.
Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP)
Takes action to alleviate hunger and the systemic causes of poverty so all may be fed.
Self-Development of People (SDOP)
Invests in communities responding to their experiences of racism, oppression, poverty and injustice.

Three Ways to Contribute to OGHS

  1. Mail a check to the church, indicating “OGHS” on the memo line.
  2. Use our online giving portal by clicking here to make a payment by credit card or direct withdrawal from your bank account.
  3. Use the OGHS envelopes available in the pews, outside the church office, and near Loeffler Chapel to make a cash contribution.

OGHS for Children and their Families

There are some fun learning tools for children, including a calendar designed to create awareness in bite-sized (daily) pieces of needs around the world and some of the way small and large that we may be of help. “Fishbanks” (ready to be colored and assembled) provide a place to collect money for the offering that will be collected on Palm Sunday. OGHS fishbanks and calendars are available in Fellowship Hall and the Godly Play classroom.
