Christmas Eve Pageant of the Nativity: Drawing Close to the Mystery
10:15 am in the Sanctuary and via livestream
On this joyful Lord’s Day, the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve, we gather in praise and adoration, lighting the candle of Love and leaning into the mystery of the birth of a baby that transformed our world. There will be angels, shepherds, sheep, and a host of worship leaders of all ages sharing familiar scriptures in word, song, and movement through a drama written for us by David Norse Thomas and Eric Thomas: “Drawing Close to the Mystery: a Christmas Nativity.” The candle lighting rite (the light for which will be taken from the Peace Light) is the one our children have come to know through Godly Play.

Christmas Eve Fellowship
11:15 am in Fellowship Hall
There will be music playing on the piano and nourishing refreshments for all as we gather in this space to share Christmas wishes and words of thanks to all who have prepared this morning’s service. O come all ye faithful!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
7 & 10 pm / in the Sanctuary (livestream for 7 pm only)

“No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin, where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in.”
– from “O Little Town of Bethlehem,”  by Phillip Brooks, 1868

On Christmas Eve we proclaim with joy the story of Christ’s birth with scripture readings, story-telling hymns and carols, and candlelight. Music is led by a Christmas choir that welcomes singers of all generations and supported by the gifts of multiple instrumentalists. Interspersed with the scriptures that foretell and provide narrative to Christ’s birth are hymns and carols. The church is aglow with the “passing of the light” as we sing Silent Night.
