warthmore Presbyterian Church is excited to offer an opportunity for childbirth education beginning Thursday, October 17 and running through Thursday, November 21. Students most ideal for this class will be approximately 30 weeks (about 7 months pregnant) around October 17. This is a class for pregnant people who are choosing to have a hospital birth. Topics will include:
- Preparing for Labor
- Understanding Labor and Creating a Birth Plan
- Labor Process During the Pushing stage
- Labor Support
- Hospital Procedures
- Pain Meds
- Variations of Labor: Medical Interventions
- Cesarean Birth
- Recovery and Postpartum Family Adjustments
- Breastfeeding Intro
- Labor Rehearsal
- Preparing for Labor
- Understanding Labor and Creating a Birth Plan

The instructor for this course is Christine Golcher, PCD(DONA), CLC, CBE(CBI). Classes are being offered as part of the Caring Ministries of the church and are free for members of SPC. The fee for community members is $225 / couple for the six week, 12 hour class, and that fee includes the text book.
