Why Anniversary Sunday?
On November 16, 1895, a committee appointed by the Presbytery of Chester met with twenty-four charter members and laid the groundwork for the congregation of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church. One year later, November 30, 1896, the newly completed Sanctuary was dedicated to the glory of God for use by the people of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church in service as a body of Christ. This Sunday, as we worship in that very Sanctuary, we celebrate those who have come before us, give thanks for all who sustain the church and its mission today, and dare to dream about where God might be leading us in the years to come. In that spirit, there is a long-standing SPC tradition of inviting one of our current members to preach the sermon on this day.

Lord’s Day Worship | 10:15 am in the Sanctuary & via livestream
Lay preacher, Lee Bassett

New Members welcomed, 2023 Pledges Dedicated

The entire church family – including extended church family members who once worshipped here – are invited this morning to worship together either in person or online! We welcome the words of active member Lee Bassett, serving as our preacher, as we dedicate the stewardship pledges supporting “what matters most” in the coming year. We will also celebrate our new members joining on this special day. Thanks be to God!

Festive Fellowship | 11:15 am in Fellowship Hall & the Courtyard
Pie Share, Church History, Updated Church Directories

We have so much to be grateful for as Thanksgiving approaches! New visitors, and members new and old are invited to enjoy meeting one another over some special beverages and as many varieties of pie that generous churchgoers have provided. We call it “pie share.” Do you have a favorite homemade or store bought pie you might provide for the sharing table? If so, please let us know by signing up here. We will also have copies of the recently updated church history booklet, originally developed for our 125th anniversary, along with the SPC church directory. Join us!
