New Communionware: A Gift of Beauty and Grace / We have put away our “Alleluia”s for Lent, but “Soli Deo Gloria” (to God alone be the glory) springs from the same well of abundant joy and thanksgiving. On Maundy Thursday as we break bread and pass the cup in remembrance of the first Last Supper, we will do so using beautiful new earthenware created for this occasion by a ceramic artist among us.

Thursday, March 29
7:30 pm / in Loeffler Chapel
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week, we will gather at 7:30 pm in the Chapel for worship in the Taizé style. Scripture, song, silence, and prayer will give us space to reflect on Jesus’ final days and journey to the cross. The Lord’s Supper will be served by intinction at each service. As part of the Wednesday evening service, in remembrance of Jesus’ act of washing his disciples’ feet and commanding them to “love one another as I have loved you”, there will be an opportunity for foot washing.
6:30 pm Potluck Supper / On Thursday evening, we will gather at 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall for a Potluck Supper. Please provide a dish to feed 8-10, according to the first letter of your last name as noted below: A-K – main dish: L-P – salad, vegetable, side dish; Q-Z – dessert.
7:30 pm Communion / Beginning at 7:30 pm, we will transition into a service around shared table that echoes the meal that Jesus shared with his friends on the night he was betrayed and arrested. Communion will be served by intinction, and we will pass the cup to one another. From here, we move then in silence to the Sanctuary to observe a Service of Tenebrae.
7:45 pm Tenebrae Service in the Sanctuary / A Service of Tenebrae is also a Service of Shadows, moving methodically through the final stages of Jesus’ life and ending at the cross. Passages of scripture, music, and prayer are each followed by the extinguishing of light, until the entire sanctuary is in darkness. We depart in quiet for the vigil of loss and expectation.
Childcare will be available during worship for children through 2nd grade. Please RSVP to the church office by March 19 with the names and ages of children that you plan to bring.
