n Sunday, February 28, we will be ordaining and installing those called by God to serve as Ruling Elders and Deacons this year. The questions we ask of them, our promises of support, and the laying on of hands (by those with whom they will serve and those who have come before them), are powerful reminders of the great trust and authority given to our church leaders. Because such an important part of this process is the witness of the congregation, and the laying on of hands is such a rich part of it, we are invited this Sunday to worship together via Zoom. The service will be available as usual on YouTube, but the way to see one another while viewing the video, and to participate in the laying on of hands will be via Zoom.

Parish Life invites the whole congregation to remain in the Zoom gathering following the postlude for a time of fellowship and the opportunity to introduce ourselves and offer thanks to those beginning service as Elders and Deacons. We will move into “breakout rooms” of small groups to facilitate conversation. BYO beverage of choice and wear a little red! The liturgical color for Lent is purple, but for Ordination, the color is red, so this effort may be a visual way of recognizing those ordained to serve in these roles.
