› Cancellation of Intergenerational Mission Trip to Nicaragua
I
t was with heavy hearts that the World Mission Committee made the decision to cancel the upcoming Intergenerational Mission Trip to Nicaragua, scheduled to travel later this month. And yet, we know this is the best choice for all.
For twelve years, SPC has continued our partnership with seven communities near Matagalpa. Due to these deep roots, this relationship continues. While we cannot travel to be with our friends, we can pray for them. In a recent communication, they have shared with us specific prayer concerns:
-
- For the partnership between Swarthmore and ASODECOMAT
- For our health and our families: Valerio Mercado, Rev. Denis Bucardo, Martirza’s son Englor who suffers from cancer, and Francisco
- For the daily bread, since we are all without work.
- For the protection of God to take care of the coronavirus.
- To have a good first planting of basic grains, since it is planting time, now that winter begins in our communities.
- For our government and leadership so that they make good decisions to protect us.
- For consolation for people who have lost a loved one to this pandemic.
- For the churches that are going through a difficult situation.
We look forward to rescheduling this trip as soon as it is safe to do so. Until then, we thank God for the ties that bind us to the faithful all over this world.
