eading the Bible through the daily lectionary is an ecumenical approach to reading from the four readings that have been grouped together around traditional Lenten themes. Most of our preaching at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church follows these readings. One exercise in using thematic readings is to see the different approaches to a theme from the perspective of the Hebrew scriptures, a Psalm, a Gospel and an Epistle. These different points of view and approaches from different communities of faith help us to broaden our understanding of the ways of God and the ways of people and how we have done theology through the ages.
