› SPC Receives 2026 National Clergy Renewal Program Grant

Thanks to everyone who helped make this grant possible!

W

e are delighted to share that Swarthmore Presbyterian Church has received a 2026 National Clergy Renewal Program grant to support a time of rest and renewal for our pastor, Rev. Joyce Shin. SPC is one of 210 congregations across the United States selected for this competitive program, funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. and administered by Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.

The program gives congregations the opportunity to support their pastors with extended time away from the demands of daily ministry. Rooted in the idea of “Sabbath time,” renewal experiences may include travel, study, rest, prayer, and arts and cultural activities. The grant covers all expenses for both the pastor and congregation during the sabbatical.

Congratulations to Rev. Joyce Shin and everyone who helped prepare and submit the grant application! Thank you for the care, creativity, and collaboration you brought to this effort. We celebrate this opportunity for renewal together and are grateful to all who helped make it possible.
