› Swarthmore Memorial Day Observance
Monday, May 26 / 10:00 am – 11:45 am
Borough Hall – Monument Park,
121 Park Avenue, Swarthmore
warthmore Presbyterian Church’s Boy Scout Troop 112 will lead our Boroughs annual Memorial Day observance. All are invited to attend. Beginning at Monument Park, musical selections will be offered by the Silver Dollar Band. Our mayor will serve as Master of Ceremonies, with Rev. David Norse Thomas offering the Invocation and Benediction, Scouts presenting the Colors, and remarks by Rep. Jennifer O’Mara (PA State House), and Captain William Paynter, Retired US Army, Special Operations Command. The Colors will then parade with Scouts from both our Troop and our Pack, escorted by the Swarthmore Police Department and the Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association to Eastlawn Cemetery, to decorate the graves of those who served. This annual tradition brings our wider community together to remember those who have died in service to our country through military service, and those veterans who are now at rest.
