Moment for Stewardship: Youth Ministry & Deacons

by Rev. David Norse Thomas

A

t Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, Love reaches out to us when we need it most. When we’re welcoming a newborn home, find ourselves in the midst of grief, or during times of sickness and healing, our Deacons lovingly provide caring meals. It’s a meaningful ministry that anyone can be a part of, and that brings into our homes the love of Jesus and our church family.

We’re thrilled to share that Our Youth Group and Deacons are now working together to provide this important Ministry. Together, we prepared meals that can be frozen, so that we always have a lovingly prepared and delicious meal at the ready when it’s needed most. Our Deacons and Youth had a great time, dancing to music, getting to know one another, and being a family in our Church Kitchen.

When you make a pledge, you make it possible for love to reach across generations, and into people’s lives through the simple and profound act of feeding one another.

We’re proud of all the ways our youth already are proclaiming that love reaches through intergenerational ministry, by working together with our Deacons, local outreach partners, worship and music ministries, and inviting their friends to be a part of this caring community.

2025 Stewardship Campaign Update

From the SPC Business Office: We received 58 pledges totaling $156,447 just last week. Wow, what a big week! We appreciate that so many people made their pledges ahead of, or on Pledge Dedication Sunday! We have now received 220 pledges totaling $690,234, which is 83% of the way towards next year’s pledge goal of $835,000. We also have 65% of the congregation who have already pledged committing more for 2025 than they did for 2024. Thank you to all who have submitted your pledge, we appreciate your support of SPC! Pledges enable us to plan our ministry in advance and ties to our annual budgeting process.
