Special Worship Services

Here at SPC, we offer a variety of opportunities for worship. Some of our services are designed to draw in those who crave a quiet worship space. Others allow us to be led by the younger voices in our congregation. Still others let us bring our family pets to a common place for a blessing of all of God’s creatures. Won’t you join us?

 Youth Sunday

This service is shaped completely by the youth of the church. Scripture, hymns, and liturgy are all chosen and written by our youth, and sermons are written and delivered by at least two of our high school seniors. Even our music is performed by our young musicians and choir. We cherish this unique opportunity to get a glimpse at the world through their eyes.

 Taizé Worship

Our Taizé services are a place for quiet contemplation and prayer, enveloped by rich music. Modeled after the Taizé community in southern France, worship is a meditative experience created through music, scripture, and prayer, with an extended time of silence for personal reflection, creating a calm and welcoming space for the “still, small voice” of God. Weather permitting, we worship in the Courtyard. In the case of rain or severe heat, worship is in Loeffler Chapel.

 Blessing of the Animals

Members of our families that aren’t usually invited to church services now have their chance in the sun. Our family pets (along with their owners) are invited to spend some time on the front lawn of SPC for a short service of prayer, scripture, and music. If you have a pet that doesn’t play well with others, join us and bring a photo of your pet to be blessed.

 Children’s Cantata

Once a year, the youngest members of our congregation prepare a popular children’s cantata to lead us in worship. Participants range in age from 1st through 5th grade, so every performance is both lively and entertaining!
