Seasonal Opportunities

As we enter each liturgical season, SPC offers worship services and programming designed to compliment the season, whether it’s caroling and crafting, or joining together for reflection, or providing opportunities to provide gifts for those in need.

Advent & Christmas Events

Advent Workshop

Sunday, December 3, 3:30–5:30 pm
We welcome family, friends, and neighbors to our annual Advent Workshop. Our Sunday School classrooms will be transformed into workshops where children ages 4–12 can create a variety of ornaments and gifts. Adults are invited to come and design their own Advent wreaths.

Advent Supper & Carol Sing

Sunday, December 3, 5:30–7:00 pm
Parish Life hosts an Advent Supper, with offerings of chili, mac and cheese, and a variety of other delicious dishes. Following our meal, we will sing and play our way through some of the hymns and carols that help make the season so special.

Special Delivery Christmas Carols

Sunday, December 10, 2017, 3:00–5:00 pm
SPC singers herald the season by visiting local members and neighbors who might enjoy a group of carolers singing just for them. Children, youth, and adults, as well as former members, guests, and visiting relatives, are welcome to join this traveling troupe. Singers are asked to meet in Fellowship Hall for music, directions to visitees, and sorting into carpool groups. Light refreshments will be provided upon return to SPC. Please RSVP to the church office (610-543-4712 or by Tuesday, December 5, if you would like to be part of the troupe.

Sunday Morning Carols

Sunday, December 17, 2017, 9:00 am
On the Sunday we light the candle of JOY, all are invited to Fellowship Hall during what is normally our education hour to sing Christmas carols and hymns; children and adults are encouraged to create joyful Christmas music together.

Advent & Christmas Giving Opportunities

Poinsettia Tributes

Each year, our deacons invite you to make a gift of a beautiful Christmas poinsettia, dedicated to the memory of or in thanksgiving for loved ones. Tributes are included in our Christmas Eve bulletins. Order forms are available throughout December.

Alternative Christmas Shop

Sundays, November 26 through December 17, 11:15 am–12:15 pm in Fellowship Hall
Sundays during Advent, SPC offers shoppers an opportunity to choose meaningful gifts for everyone on their lists while providing help to others, both near and far. With a wide range of charities from all over the world to choose among, you will find something for everyone on your list. The Alternative Christmas Shop offers opportunities to make affordable ($5 to $30) donations to specific charities in the name of friends and loved ones. Help us try to “give hope around the world” through the many projects we support.

Lent & Easter Opportunities and Events

Daily Devotions for Lent

Booklets Available Beginning Sunday, February 11, 2018
SPC’s Lenten devotional booklet is a collection of individual reflections written by church members on scripture passages chosen for each day in Lent. Copies are available in booklet form in the Fellowship Hall lobby, outside the church office, and outside Loeffler Chapel. If you would like to have reflections e-mailed to you daily, please advise Parish Administrator Dorrie McGrath at

Women’s Lenten Retreat

Saturday During Lent
SPC’s Presbyterian Women invite women of all ages to spend some time together during the Lenten season. Rev. Joyce Shin will once again lead us, offering insightful commentary and inspiring thoughtful conversation. Our session will end with some simple and relaxing movements in T’ai Chi. As always, there will be plenty of time for fellowship and reflection over breakfast and lunch, which are “potluck.” Feel free to bring a neighbor, a relative, or a friend, or come by yourself and discover a new circle of friends. This is a place where we can rejoice with old friends and celebrate new ones. Suggested contribution: $10.00 per participant.

Easter Lily Tributes and Memorials

Dedications due Friday, March 23, 2018
Potted lilies, hyacinths, and mums grace our worship spaces on Easter Sunday as signs of life after the Resurrection and are offered afterward to those who have lost loved ones this year. These are provided through the donations of members and friends. The tributes are printed in that morning’s worship bulletins. Forms will be available online and in the church office by March 23. Please fill out as many as you plan tributes for and send them, along with your check, to the church office. We must receive your tributes by noon on Friday, March 23, in order for them to be included in the Easter announcements. Questions? Please be in touch with the church office at 610.543.4712 or

Labyrinth Walks

Sunday, March 25–Saturday, March 31, 2018
Open all day, lighted for evening walks until 10:00 PM Walking a labyrinth is an ancient spiritual discipline that filters out distraction and allows your mind to focus. SPC enjoys an outdoor labyrinth located adjacent to the Memorial Garden (behind the ABC House). It is open for anyone at any time, and throughout Holy Week will be lighted until 10:00 PM. Pamphlets with some suggestions for scripture passages on which to reflect and guidance for the experience can be found at the labyrinth entrance and our Walking the Labyrinth web page.
