Youth Leading Worship
Youth in Worship
Leading worship is an important part of our faith development as Christians. At SPC, youth conduct worship in a number of ways throughout the year. The 8 pm Christmas Eve service is one of lessons and carols lead by our high schoolers. The 4 pm Christmas Eve pageant is acted out and led by our middle schoolers and younger children. In May, Christian Family Sunday features our children's cantata and middle school leadership of music and liturgy. Members of the 8th grade Confirmation Class serve as liturgists during Lent. The Youth Choir sings in worship throughout the year, including on Christmas Eve and Youth Sunday.
Youth Sunday
And then there's Youth Sunday, which is usually in late February. Our high schoolers put together an entire Sunday morning worship service, from selecting the Bible passage and hymns, to interpreting the text, to writing the liturgy, to performing it at our 10:15 am service. For our non-public speakers, youth usher and perform music as well. The sermons are usually preached by members of the senior class. You can read this year's sermons (Logan Clements, Robyn Morse, Peter Sisson) and listen to past Youth Sunday services on our Audio Archive page.
