Fall is the traditional season for the Church’s annual pledge campaign.  Our pastors and our fellow members contemplate the meaning of giving during worship in October.  A mailing to each household (requires Adobe Reader)  describes our needs, makes the case for support, and asks for each household to commit to a donation level for the coming year.  Pledges are dedicated in November, and by the end of December, SPC's Session is able to review a preliminary budget based on the level of congregational pledges.

The Financial Stewardship committee also strives throughout the year to call attention to the value of members’ contributions to our Church.   Monthly reports in the church newletter, the Herald, tell the story of the life of our church in mission, worship, Christian education and outreach activities – the life of our church that is nurtured by the faithful commitment of its members.  As former committee chair Lew Rinko once proclaimed, “Annual giving is a myth!” – the commitment that we make once a year is paid – and pays us back – throughout the year.

Important Note for Year-end contributions:

In order to claim a deduction for this year’s contribution, your check must be received by or postmarked by December 31, 2011.  Please note that the church closes at noon on the 31st.  If you are planning to donate appreciated securities, please make sure you consider these delivery rules:  If you unconditionally deliver or mail the stock certificate with the
appropriate forms and signature verification, the gift is considered complete on the date of delivery or postmark date.  If you deliver the stock to your agent, the gift is not complete until the stock is transferred to the church’s account.  This process can take several weeks, planning ahead is critical.  Questions?  Please contact the business office (610-543-4712 ext. 121 or spcfinance@swarthmorepres.org).
