Parish Administrator & Primary Choir Director
Dorrie is the first person to start with if you have a question about almost anything at SPC. She writes and publishes our newsletter, The Herald, maintains our website, answers the phone, responds to your email, maintains the church calendar, coordinates room usage, provides administrative support to all of our committees and volunteer groups, keeps our database current, and, most importantly, keeps chocolate in the candy dish! Dorrie is an active member who sings in the Chancel Choir, serves as one of our cantors, and directs our Primary Choir. She also enjoys traveling with our youth on summer mission trips. If you have a question or need information and don't know who else to ask, start with Dorrie.
Finance Manager
Jennifer Vincent is the nerve center for all of the money that flows in and out of SPC coffers; from the change collected in hunger jars to large bequests, she sees that all records of income and expenses are posted accurately and deposited or disbursed in a timely manner. Jen prepares the monthly financial reports used by session and many of our committees as well as our critical year-end reports. She keeps our insurance policies up to date, works closely with our auditors to ensure that we are in compliance with both our own bylaws and all government legislation, and in conjunction with the Finance committee and Session as they prepare monitor our annual budget. Jen is at the hub of all committee activities that involve major spending - from building projects to the disbursement of Outreach funds to payroll. She is also an active church member, and the mother of three young children; Jen helps in various church school classes, serves on the Fall Fair "Collectibles" committee, and has often volunteered her time and gardening talents to our "H.O.E" team. If you have any questions about our budget, how we are spending your pledge dollars, or want to inquire about any financial matters, Jen will get you the answers you need.
Children's Ministry Coordinator
Ashley, one of the newest members of our staff, is not really new to SPC at all. A child of the church, she has been active in a variety of roles since she was 7 years old. In her teen years Ashley co-taught our toddler class on Sunday mornings. As a college student she joined our high school youth on summer mission trips, and since graduating from Syracuse University she has returned to serve as a youth advisor. She is the Ashley who leads "Dinner with Ashley" - a high school discussion group that tackles faith issues at dinner gatherings. In her role as Children's Ministry Coordinator, Ashley coordinates all of our childrens programs, including church school for children through 5th grade and childcare for infants and toddlers. She works closely with the Children's Education Committee in selecting curricula, scheduling teachers, and responding to feedback on issues ranging from schedules to classroom supplies to snack requests. She is the shepherdess that makes sure both teachers and children have what they need for their classes on Sunday morning. The Children's Ministry Coordinator also administrates several seasonal activites for children - among them the very popular Advent Workshop and the childcare provided during our Lenten Tenebrae service and the Annual Meeting. If you are willing to help in a classroom (we are always in search of helpers - even those that can only commit to a few weeks) or have questions about church school, childcare, or need an accommodation for a child with disbilities, please contact Ashley.
Finance Coordinator
Betsy is an active new SPC member and delighted to be getting to know other members better as she serves in this role. Betsy works closely with Jen; she ensures that our bills are paid on time, manages payroll both for church staff and NDS, records contributions to memorial funds and ensures that gifts are acknowledged, and prepares our quarterly contribution statements. She and her husband Randy, with their two young sons, Carter and Evan, live in Swarthmore. Betsy will always make time to listen to your questions and concerns and track down the answer you need.
Bulletin Editor
Ali edits and produces the our Sunday morning worship bulletins. She is also the friendly person who answers the phone Thursday and Friday mornings, fields questions, and helps with various administrative tasks. Her skills as a graphic artist were tapped by our website task force; the familiar rose window, deep blue background, and mission statement quote at the top of each webpage are her design. Ali is also an active church member and the mother of two children that keep her busy on the home front.
Director of Music
As Director of Music Jeff oversees our entire Ministry of Music. His most visible roles -- or perhaps in his case we should say audible - or even laudable -- are those of director of our Chancel Choir and organist. Behind the scenes he works closely with our pastoral staff in planning weekly worship so that what we experience on Sunday morning is a focused and cohesive service. Jeff's virtuosity at the keyboard extends to the piano, and we are blessed with wonderful preludes and postludes on a weekly basis. Jeff is part of a musically gifted family and has close ties to other talented local musicians; he has brought many of them to us for special occasion music and summer worship. If you are interested in joining the Chancel Choir or have any questions related to our music programs, contact Jeff.
Bell Choir Director
Eileen is the newest member of the church staff and adds the weekly rehearsals and Sunday directing of our Chancel Bell Choir to a full plate of musical responsibilities. Eileen is a capable organist who serves as Organist/Liturgical
Music Director for Saint Maria Goretti RCC in Hatfield, PA. She is also the owner/operator of a music studio in Souderton, PA, where she teaches piano and organ students privately. BUt the job that perhaps keeps her busiest of all is that of mother to four teenage boys! If you are interested in being part of the bell choir, or have any questions or comments on handbells at SPC, contact Eileen.
Junior Choir Director
Ray is an active church member, sings baritone in the chancel choir, and directs the energetic group of 2nd through 5th graders that comprise our Junior Choir. A teacher by vocation, Ray also happens to be a theater guru with a gift for bringing out the best in others, both onstage and off. He revels in the purposeful chaos that seems to define directing our annual children's cantata, a musical production that gets the members of all three children's choirs onstage sharing Bible stories in word and song on Christian Family Sunday. Please contact Ray if you have questions about our Junior Choir or the cantata.
Youth Choir Director
Vippy is an active church member who also directs our Youth Choir. Open to middle and high school students, the youth choir is a welcoming and supportive group that enjoys singing and sharing themselves with one another because of her leadership. Please don't hesitate to contact her if you have questions about or suggestions for the youth choir.
Building Superintendent
John is the quintessential "maintenance man." If something is broken, he repairs it; if something needs building, he builds it. His visible role on Sunday as the one-armed-paperhanger who makes sure all doors are open, lights on, classrooms set up, flipcharts and appropriate equipment in place, and spaces converted as schedule dictates (while most of are enjoying worship, John is transforming Fellowship Hall from a classroom to a space for coffee and various displays), is but the tip of the iceberg. All week long John is the "glue" that keeps our busy calendar of meetings and events from unraveling. Never ask what his hours really are; he is simply here when we need him. And we are grateful.
Greg Piscorik
Custodian
Greg is the one-man wonder who works a full day at SPC every Tuesday in addition to his full-time job at what we have come to refer to as the "other church" (Trinity Episcopal Church). In addition to cleaning the sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and all staff offices, Greg can often be seen taking food donations to Jane Fox's car for transport to C.E.M, setting up tables & chairs on committee nights, and generally helping wherever an extra hand is needed.
John Steacker
Custodian
John is another well-kept secret to the cleanliness and accessiblity of our building. John works 6 afternoons a week, primarily cleaning the Nursery School domain. He is also the reason that the building is open for evening meetings,
Loeffler Chapel is arranged for choir rehearsals or Wednesday morning prayers, and a variety of other groups find this to be a welcoming place.
Sunday Sexton
Jim is an active church member and serves as president of the Chancel Choir in addition to being our Sunday sexton. Turning on the lights, setting out the flowers and bulletins, changing the banner and linens, setting up the hymn boards, and making sure the Bible is open to the first reading are just some of the many details to which Jim attends so that the sanctuary is in order for worship each Sunday. He also serves as ex-officio to the Worship and Music Committee, where his input both as sexton and Choir President and his compulsive attention to detail coupled with a mega-gig memory are invaluable.
Nursery Day School Director
Debby serves as both Director and one of the teachers in SPNDS and may be contacted with any questions related to the school.
