Interfaith Hospitality Network
The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) brings the faith community together to help homeless families – 40% of the homeless population – regain their housing, their independence and their dignity. IHN is a partnership of congregations, including SPC, that provides shelter, meals and support services to these families. You may visit IHN's website at www.familypromise.org.
SPC supports IHN by hosting the families in the church four weeks out of each year. During these weeks, volunteers provide dinners and fellowship and spend the night with our guests. Families typically arrive around 5 pm each evening. Dinner is served family-style and the evening hours include playtime for the children and time getting to know the families. Volunteer overnight hosts usually arrive around 8 pm and stay until morning, when guests can prepare light breakfasts and sack lunches before returning to the IHN home base at the Chester YWCA.
2010 Host Weeks for SPC January 24 - February 7, June 13-27.
