The Story of Our Faith
Local Clergy Serve as Guest Speakers
This series of classes is part of a larger effort that recognizes 2017 as the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. As Presbyterians, we stand on the shoulders of many who have come before us in the faith. Throughout the year, are exploring some of their confessions of faith, traveling through time and space to piece together the story of our faith. Special thanks to Rev. John Weicher, who has worked to recruit many local seminary-educated speakers.
May 14 – The Heidelberg Confession
led by Rev. Sarah Cooper Searight of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church
May 21 – The 2nd Helvetic Confession
led by Rev. Laurie Taylor Weicher of Wayne Presbyterian Church

The Story of Our Faith will resume in September.

The Music of the Reformation
led by Dorrie McGrath
Many of the systemic changes for which Martin Luther and those that developed the practices of Reformed worship were a catalyst manifested themselves in the music of worship. This morning we will learn about the changes in hymnody, the development of the Psalter, and styles of choral music that continue to be relevant 500 years later. You may even get a little practice cantor-ing! Led by Dorrie McGrath and Barbara Addison.

Sunday, June 4
led by Kit Healey
What is forgiveness? How do we forgive? Why is it important? Kit Healey, a psychology professor and Stephen Ministry leader, walks us through the landscape of forgiveness and welcomes discussion

Sunday, June 11
led by Ginny Gibson
It’s a timely conversation both here at SPC as we begin to develop a Welcome Team to support the settlement of a refugee family and in cities and college campuses throughout the country.
